The Thalmor would not have the advantage of having a foothold in Skyrim like the Empire (especially if the Dragonborn wipes out the garrison at the Northwatch Keep), and they would also be facing a much larger, more experienced, and better equipped united Nord army then the Empire would have faced even at the end of the war in the battle of Solitude.īasically, if the Thalmor invaded Skyrim, they would be a weakened, smallish nation trying to establish a foothold over a long, sea-based supply line in a larger, united nation (of warriors, at that) - unless the Thalmor had a secret weapon to aid them, they would likely fail even without the Dragonborn aiding the Nords. Basically, if the Dragonborn joins the Stormcloaks, although the Dragonborn does a lot of the work in defeating the Empire, the fact is that without the Stormcloak army increasing in size with every victory, the Dragonborn couldn't have done it alone, and even after the Stormcloaks won, I doubt Ulfric would stop recruiting, knowing what might happen next. However, if you go to Solitude and evesdrop on the conversation between General Tullis and Legate Rikki, when she says Ulfric wants to invade Whiterun, he basically laughs at her, and she says he should take the threat more seriously since her intelligence indicates that Ulfric keeps gathering more troops daily. The Empire had an advantage fighting the Stormcloaks in Skyrim since they already had a presence there, plus at first the Stormcloaks didn't have large numbers of troops (in the beginning, rebellions always start out very small, and at a disadvantage - look at Syria, for instance). I seriously doubt the Dominion would be in the shape to invade anyone for many years, unless they have a Numidium Mark 2 hidden away and ready to go!

Likely they never had that many soldiers to start with (which is why they only tried to invade Hammerfell and even then only after the Empire had had most of it's forces wiped out in a failed invasion of Akavir), and since Elves have a low fertility rate, combined with the fact that they booster their numbers of soldiers with a large number of female soldiers (potential mothers) means that when the Empire and Hammerfell both wiped out huge numbers of Dominion troops, that it will take perhaps two, three or even four generations to replace them. Basically, the only part of the Dominion that counts as far as supplying soldiers (since Valenwood is likely still restless after the Thalmor Pograms of Bosmer, and Khajiit, while excellent warriors, make poor soldiers) is the Summerset Isles, which is a fairly small landmass when compared to Cyrendiil or even Skyrim. Firstly, while they did fight the Empire to a standstill, the Thalmor themselves must have been severely weakened themselves - after their defeat (and yes, they technically did lose that war) they were even driven out of Hammerfell, and never tried to re-invade.
